Content Gap & Briefs

Keywords competitors win with content, and one-click SEO briefs to close the gap.

Gaps → Content Gap turns ranking deficits into a content backlog — and generates the briefs to write it.

The gap list

A content gap is a keyword where competitors hold a top-10 position and your site ranks worse than 15 or not at all — i.e., content they have and you lack. Each gap carries:

  • priority score — estimated traffic value weighted by difficulty,
  • estimated monthly traffic — what ranking for it is worth,
  • which competitors hold it.

Recompute is a manual backfill: rank refreshes already update the gap list automatically as part of the same pipeline, so the list is normally current without touching anything. Use Recompute when the list looks stale for another reason (e.g., an interrupted job or an operator-side data repair).

Briefs

For any gap, Generate brief produces a complete SEO content brief. The saved structure:

  • a title starting point,
  • an outline of H2 sections, each with talking points,
  • entities and terms to cover,
  • a questions block (the FAQ candidates),
  • internal link suggestions from your own pages.

The brief generator calls the configured AI provider (or the mock provider in demo mode). A brief costs 10 credits by default — the platform admin can change this value (see Credits) — charged before generation and refunded automatically if generation fails entirely. One edge case worth knowing: if the AI call fails but the generator falls back to a template-based brief and saves it successfully, that is a delivered brief — charged, not refunded.

Where briefs live

Generated briefs are saved on the project (Content → briefs) with their source gap, so you can revisit or regenerate them. The same generation is also available over MCP (generate_content_brief) so your AI coding agent can pull briefs directly into your content pipeline.

Workflow

  1. Refresh ranks — the gap list updates itself in the same pipeline; Recompute only if the list looks stale (interrupted job, data repair).
  2. Sort by priority; pick the top gap you can genuinely serve.
  3. Generate the brief (10 credits default).
  4. Write/publish; the keyword is already in rank tracking, so the result is measured automatically.
