Rank Tracking
Track Google positions for your keywords daily, with movers, distribution and history.
SEO → Rank Tracking is the home of your tracked keywords and their Google positions over time.
Adding keywords
Add keywords one by one or in bulk. Each tracked keyword carries:
- current position and previous position (with a delta badge),
- search volume, difficulty and intent (informational / commercial / transactional / navigational),
- the URL on your site that ranks for it.
Plan limits apply per project: Free 10, Pro 100, Growth 500, Agency 2000 tracked keywords.
Refreshing ranks
Ranks refresh automatically on the daily SEO job (default 07:30 UTC). The Refresh button queues an immediate rank check for the whole project. Each refresh stores a dated position, so the history chart and the previous-position delta both stay accurate; re-checking the same day updates that day's snapshot rather than appending a duplicate.
Rank positions come from the DataForSEO integration (see Data sources). In demo mode without it, positions are deterministic sample data, clearly labeled, not live Google rankings; outside demo mode the integration must be configured — there is no silent fallback.
Movers & distribution
- Movers surfaces the biggest position changes since the last run — the fastest way to spot a win or a regression.
- Distribution counts your keywords into cumulative buckets — top-3, top-10, top-20, top-100 (a keyword at position 2 is in all four) — which is the same depth-weighted input the SEO Visibility pillar of the Growth Score uses.
SERP snapshots
Every rank check also stores a SERP snapshot — who else ranks for the keyword and which SERP features are present. These snapshots feed SERP Analytics, Competitor discovery and the Competitor Gap analysis. You collect them passively just by tracking keywords.
Tips
- Track a mix of brand, product, comparison and informational terms — a diverse set keeps the picture honest across the buying journey.
- Keywords at positions 4–30 are the Traffic Opportunity pillar: they have volume and are close enough to climb. Prioritize optimizing those pages.
- Remove keywords you no longer target to keep the per-project budget on terms that matter.
